Anxiety, worry and fears are all part of being human. However, when you find yourself preoccupied with these thoughts and no longer able to connect to the joy of living then something is out of balance and feelings of depression, low self-worth or self esteem can hijack you. Often, and especially if you have experienced a shocking event, there is some dysregulation of the nervous system. This can put you in 'high alert', making you primed to feel more fearful, sad, unhappy, anxious, angry or irritable. There are many reasons why someone seeks counselling, but a common thread of each experience is how our thinking has been conditioned to hold pain and how it perceives and reacts to threats and stress.
Zen counselling is a gentle and loving approach to processing life-events, providing a safe place to process those reactions, thoughts and feelings that were at some point were too overwhelming. With guidance and love, zen counselling can help you to process things and reconnect you again to that which you love in yourself and what brings you joy. Zen counselling can help you increase your self-esteem and confidence, resolve anger and resentment and improve your ability to solve problems and make decisions that are right for you.
Love & Relating
Relations are an essential part of our lives. They are both our biggest support and our biggest challenge. For couples who are experiencing difficulty, zen counselling can offer great insight and healing for both.
Many couples can be put off from seeking help because they are afraid a therapist may judge one or take sides. Zen Relationship Counselling has entirely unique approach that addresses this concern fully. The couples session is separated in two, each person having their own individual healing session with freedom to explore their own needs and desires. The partner remains a silent witness for the other, and both are able to gain precious insight into how each persons action, thoughts and behaviours influence their relating.
There is in fact no 'goal' in these sessions. It is an intimate and private exploration where we aim to assist both in gaining strength and finding love within themselves, which often naturally effects a huge positive shift in their relating to each other.
WORK & MONEY
Work is no small matter. We spend a large part of our lives working and issues at work can greatly impact our confidence and happiness. The pressure to perform or desire for greater appreciation can have a great impact on our relationships at work. In particular, a 'difficult' boss can often trigger anger or feelings of powerlessness which is particularly hard to deal with within an environment where such feelings may be judged or considered inappropriate. Money is no small matter either, it is closely connected to our survival and our desires, both of which can create enormous pressure and stress and can often keep us stuck in a difficult situation or unable to respond in a self-supportive way.
Zen Counselling offers a way to explore the deeper implications of work-related stress and seeks to resolve issues with self-esteem and relating conflicts. In can offer great insight into your current coping mechanisms and improve the way you handle yourself at work, they way you react to circumstances and empowers you to make decisions that will bring confidence and balance back into your life.
Dreams & Expectations
Dreams and expectations are nowhere more bigger than in the life we create with our family and loved ones.Everyone in life has a longing for love and hope for the magical. But many times our hopes are dashed and our expectations are not met. The magic we envisaged in the beginning, often falls way to the everyday demands and challenges we face.
Zen counselling is helpful for dealing with family pressures and disappointments. It uncovers the deeper longings of life and love. It is especially helpful for relating issues with family members and the expectations that are placed on you or resentments of those not being met. It also can help support you with issues with children or the desire for children, giving you strength to overcome disappointments and ideals and uncover the joy that is present when dreams and expectations give way to acceptance and strength.
